20 Years Cataract Operations

Two Decades of Excellence

On the 5th of November, 2018, the Antillean Adventtist Hospital (AAH) celebrated the fact that it started cataract operations exactly 20 years ago . What started with a modest Legacy Cataract machine in a small operating room has now grown into the most important place in Curaçao when it comes to cataract operations. Every day, cataract interventions are performed using the new CENTURION® Vision system, the only intelligent phaco technology that optimizes every moment of the cataract surgical procedure.

The new system adjusts automatically and continuously to changing conditions in the eye, provides more stability to the anterior chamber during each step of the operation and places optimized energy technology at the fingertips of the surgeon through improved fluid management and surgical precision. Today, there are two operating rooms dedicated to eye surgeries in the Antillean Adventist Hospital.   As of March 4, 2005, the Antillean Adventist Hospital also performs vitrectomy eye surgeries using state-of-the-art technology and equipment along with highly qualified personnel in safe, clean and hygienic surroundings. The management of the AAH took some time to celebrate this memorable moment on November 5, 2018 with the eye specialists, the operating room staff and the staff in general.
